Pensioners' Potter - 10:00 am Thursdays
These are off-road runs of about 1½ hours on Thursday mornings at 10:00 from different venues a few miles from Congleton - as shown below. All are welcome: you don't have to be a pensioner! 2-letter superscripts indicate drink/food venues for afterwards: bring a change of clothes. Runs are led by Mike Laurence (01260-274239) or Austin Farr (01270-877846). If you’re not a “regular” it’s a good idea to contact one of us to make sure there’s not been a change.

Follow A54 towards Buxton for 11m and park in long layby on LHS. (2½m after sharp LH hairpin and Rose & Crown pub; green sheep pasture on LHS and Sparbent barn above).
Oct 23: Bosley Reservoir – SE side SJ926655
Just south of Bosley, on the Macclesfield-Leek road, take the 2nd lane on left (Smithy Lane?) opposite Tunstall Road on right. Proceed with care to reservoir. Park on road level with dam.

On A34 ¾m south of Astbury, turn right (Childs Lane). After 3m, at traffic lights turn left (south) on A50 for 0.9m and park in layby on RHS (150 yards after crossing a small valley).

From Leek, take A53 (Buxton) road for 3½m and turn left, just after steep dip, for Upper Hulme. After 150yds, turn left for ½m to park on RHS near Roaches Tea Rooms on LHS.

A527 south. 1m after traffic-light junction at the south of Biddulph, turn left (45º, brown sign: Greenway Bank Country Park). After 0.4m turn left, and follow for 1.5m (past CP and dam). At 'T' junction turn right; after 300 yards left; after 100 yards left into parking area.

On A34, turn first right ¾m south of Astbury into Childs Lane. Keep straight ahead for about 4m, crossing A50 (traffic lights) and A533 (take care). Park at Romping Donkey, on LHS in Hassall Green.

Take A527 south through Biddulph for 7m. About 1m beyond Brindley Ford, turn left into Oxford Road and after 500yds park on LHS.

A54 towards Buxton. 2¾m after A523 traffic lights, at Four-ways Motel crossroads, turn left. After 1¾m turn 135º left. After 250yds, by Gritstone Trail crossing, park on RHS.
Dec 11: Astbury - School Lane SJ849647
About 1.2m south of Congleton on A34, turn left into Astbury. After 300yds turn left by Primary School into School Lane. After 200yds take left fork and park at Wits End (Bill Boynton's house).
Dec 18: Bridestones (just beyond) SJ909619
Follow the Mossley to Rushton road, past the Bridestones
and shortly after RH bend, park on verge on either side.
