These are off-road runs of about 1½ hours on Thursday mornings at 10:00 (unless otherwise arranged).  Directions are from Congleton.  All are welcome: you don't have to be a pensioner!  2-letter superscripts indicate drink/food venues for afterwards: bring a change of clothes.

Oct 29:  Rich Benson’s house: 834606

(The Old Stables, Moreton Cottages CW12 4SE) Take the A34 S out of Congleton passing Astbury, then Astbury Garden Centre.   Turn down track on the RHS of the A34, after Childs Lane (on the R) and 200 yards before Pecks Restaurant. Approach the turn carefully since traffic is often very heavy.  You can overshoot and turn at Pecks to approach via the easier left-hand turn. The best pointer to the track is a brown sign on the left verge of the A34 indicating ‘Moreton Fisheries’.  The track to The Old Stables is directly opposite this sign on the right-hand side of the A34. (Rich to lead.)

Nov 5: Rushton Spencer: 936624

Take A527 up Park Lane and turn L at Mossley lights onto Reades Lane.  Follow road to A523 Leek-Macclesfield road, turn L then after ¼ mile turn L towards Woodhouse Green.  After 250 yards, just past The Knot pub, a stone drive leads to CP on the old railway line. (Bill to lead.)

Nov 12: Hen Cloud 007613

From Leek, take A53 (Buxton) road for 3½m and turn left, just after steep rise, for Upper Hulme.  After 150yds, turn left for ½m to park on RHS near Roaches Tea Rooms on L

Nov 19: Hollin Lane (Sutton): 938697

Take A54 Buxton Rd through Bosley lights with A523.  After 3 miles take first road L [at sharp RH bend of A54] towards Sutton Lane Ends.  This is Hollin Lane.  400 yds after Ryles Arms pub park on R near drive to Foxbank Farm and footpath on L.(NB Park with care – limited space.)

Nov 26: Gradbach: 998662

Take A54 for 9½m towards Buxton.  Immediately after sharp LH bend and just before Rose & Crown turn right for 2m.  About 200yds after crossing R. Dane turn very sharp right (almost backwards) for 400yds to public car park on RHS (about 600yds before the Youth Hostel).

Dec 3: Axe Edge 030703

Take A54 from Congleton until just before junction with A537 from Macclesfield. Turn R onto Axe Edge over cattle grid and drive 0.5 miles to high point and park on L on a flat area [park off narrow road].   This location is also 0.6 miles from the A53 Buxton-Leek Road.

Dec 10: Greenway Bank Country Park 889551

Take A527 south.  1m beyond the traffic-light junction to the south of Biddulph, just before it descends to Brindley Ford, bear left (i.e. half-left)- probably with brown sign to Greenway Bank Country Park.  After 0.4m turn left.  Greenway Bank Country Park is on the left after 0.5m: park in the car park. (This is the CP by buildings, not the one further down, by the lake.)

Dec 17: Cat & Fiddle 002718

Take A54 from Congleton until just before junction with A537 from Macclesfield. Turn L on short link road and L again on A537 towards Macclesfield.  Pass Cat & Fiddle pub on R, and in 200 yds, just before road bears L, park on R, on stony lay-by.
